Às vezes um telefonema pode mudar nossa vida. Eu recebi um desses exatos 10 anos atrás, numa quarta-feira. Fui escalado de última hora para substituir o Dj de uma festa que não poderia comparecer no início da noite. Na hora, não soube bem o que responder, mas aceitei sem hesitar, porque no fundo tinha certeza que alguma coisa fora do comum estava prestes a me acontecer.
Na época a profissão de discotecário não era lá algo muito rentável, glamouroso e banalizado como é nos dias de hoje. Para quem amava música e queria compartilhar isso com outras pessoas, era preciso pesquisar horrores em semanários importados, sebos e lojas de discos especializadas.
Felizmente, no auge dos meus 21 anos eu ocupava o cargo de vendedor de uma loja de discos (sim, que nem no livro do Nick Hornby!) e era lá que garimpava todos os títulos que viriam a fazer parte do meu “case”. Nada de cd’rs, era tudo original mesmo, até mesmo edições especiais.
Como freqüentador assíduo das noites alternativas de São Paulo, fui como última opção cotado para preencher a lacuna deixada naquela noite.Peguei um ônibus, rezando para que toda minha coleção voltasse sã e salva para casa. Não é nem preciso dizer que quase não tive platéia na minha estréia, apenas os funcionários e duas pessoas que faziam o trajeto “banheiro-bar-banheiro-bar”. Também tive dificuldades para me encontrar na aparelhagem tosquíssima, e o fone disponível era de walkman com apenas um lado funcionando.
Mesmo assim, senti que tinha nascido um novo amor dentro de mim e toda vez que possível dava um jeitinho de me apresentar nas minhas festas preferidas, aceitando qualquer oferta.
Fiquei praticamente 4 anos nessa, substituindo Djs desistentese me aprimorando, até que os promoters diante do meu esforço e força de vontade começaram também a me ceder um valor módico que cobria pelo menos minha condução, além de me marcarem num horário melhor.
Depois disso, nossa, muita coisa mudou! Saí do meu último emprego decidido a viver dessa profissão, achei que já era hora de me dedicar de corpo e alma, já que música sempre foi a coisa mais importante na minha vida. Não posso dizer que tudo sempre foram flores, porque como em qualquer profissão claro que teve gente querendo puxar meu tapete, dificuldades por não fazer parte de um grupinho fechado, calotes que tomei e por aí vai. Mas os amigos (de verdade) que fiz e o reconhecimento do público que tem acompanhado meu trabalho em São Paulo e Brasil afora tornaram essa jornada menos dolorosa.
Hoje, completando 10 anos de carreira, olho para trás e não me sinto arrependido de nenhuma escolha que fiz para continuar na ativa. Por ter escolhido um gênero não muito comercial, sofri inúmeras críticas e já ouvi gente falando que não iria a lugar nenhum.
Felizmente estou aqui firme e forte, ocupando o lugar que é meu de direito, já tive música me homenageando, já estampei tênis e camisetas, já fui agenciado e posso ter o privilégio de ser patrocinado por marcas legais, mantendo o pé no chão e sendo verdadeiro comigo mesmo.
Nem eu imaginei que pudesse chegar até aqui. Deixo o meu sincero agradecimento a todos ( amigos, promoters, colegas de trabalho) que de uma maneira ou de outra fizeram parte desse sonho.
Para essa data não passar em branco, produzi uma Mixtape com 10 faixas que formaram meu caráter dentro das pistas. Bandas e produtores que me influenciaram e me encorajaram no início de carreira.
